Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act 130 of 1993

AMENDMENT OF SCHEDULE 4: MANNER OF CALCULATING COMPENSATION

The Minister of Employment and Labour issued a notice of intention to amend Schedule 4 for accidents that occur from 1st April 2022 as well as occupational diseases diagnosed from the 1st April 2022, w.e.f 1 April 2022. Written comments may be submitted to Melinda.visagie@labour.gov.za within 60 days of publishing of the Notice in the Gazette. THE NOTICE ISSUED BY THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL UNDER COMPENSATION FOR OCCUPATIONAL INJURIES AND DISEASES ACT, 1993

The Director General of Employment and Labour issued the following Notice:
a) A Maximum Earnings on Actual Earning is R506 473 (1 March 2021 to 28 February 2022)
b) A Maximum Earnings on Provisional Assessment is R529 264 (1 March 2022 to 28 February 2023)
c) A Minimum Assessment for commercial employers is R1342
d) A Minimum Assessment for private domestic employers is R463

Hazardous Substances Act 15 of 1973

GROUP II HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES: DECLARATION

The Minister of Health intends to declare the substances mentioned in the notice and mixtures containing such substances, products or materials to be Group II Hazardous Substances. Written comments may be submitted to Aneliswa.Cele@health.gov.za within three months of publication of the notice in the Gazette. National Railway Safety Regulator Act 16 of 2002

DETERMINATION OF PERMIT FEES UNDER SECTION 23(2) OF THE NATIONAL RAILWAY SAFETY REGULATOR ACT, 2002

The Minister of Transport determined the fees that the Railway Safety Regulator must charge for safety permits, with effect from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023. Published under Government Notice 2084, Government Gazette 46366 of 13 May 2022.

Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993

NOTICE REGARDING IMPLEMENTATION OF REGULATIONS 14, 14A, 14B, 14 C AND 14D OF THE REGULATIONS FOR HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL AGENTS, 2021, AS AMENDED.

The Chief inspector in terms of section 27(1) of the abovementioned Act granted the following temporary exemption: From 29 September 2022, manufacturers and/or suppliers of chemicals may continue to supply existing stock-in-trade that are non-GHS (Globally Harmonised System for the classification and labelling) compliant, provided that the chemical was manufactured or imported (landed and not in transit) prior to the 29 September 2022. The exemption will be for a period of 12 months, ending 30 September 2023, when all labelling and SDS (Safety Data Sheet) shall be GHS compliant.
