• Lucinda van Rensburg - Managing Director

    Qualifications:

    Background:

    Lucinda obtained her BLC and LLB degrees from the University of Pretoria. She also holds a Diploma in Industrial Relations (cum laude) and a Master’s degree in Labour Law (UP). Lucinda also received a Master’s degree (LLM) General (cum laude), focusing on National and International Environmental Law, Specific Contracts and Constitutional Law.

    Lucinda was an admitted attorney, conveyancer and notary of the Supreme Court. Her work experience includes four years in private practice and four years in the corporate industry acting as Legal Advisor for a major medical information technology corporate.
    She is a member of the Professional Speaker’s Association of South Africa and an accredited assessor and a member of the Environmental Law Association.

    Lucinda worked as Technical Manager: Legal Services, at NOSA for four years, before she founded Implex Legal Compliance Solutions in 2005 together with Robert Steyn and Chan Naidoo.

    Expertise:

    At Implex she is responsible for developing strategic and tailored legal compliance solutions for a diverse sector of clients, on national and global level. Lucinda manages and facilitates training and training development at Implex and is regularly invited to speak at public conferences, seminars and events on issues relating to safety, health, and environmental, labour and related law.
  • Robert Steyn - Director Operations

    Qualifications:

    B.Proc

    Background:

    Robert obtained a B. Proc degree from the University of Potchefstroom.

    His work experience includes Articles of Clerkship and six years as assessor for Rand Mutual, specializing in the mining sector.

    Robert joined NOSA as a legal consultant in 2003 and was involved in consulting on the legal issues of occupational safety and health in the industrial and mining sectors.

    Expertise:

    Robert is one of the founding members of Implex, and he specialises in legal registers; legal compliance audits; legal consulting; legal training; and system implementation in both mining and industrial sectors. Robert also spearheads the Implex and eKuluma Vuka Vusa training project. Robert completed the following courses: SAMTRAC in mining, Incident Investigation and Workplace Risk Assessment.
  • Tasneem Khan - Director Legal Services

    Qualifications:

    LLB

    Background:

    Tasneem obtained an LLB degree from the University of Potchefstroom in 2001, and finishing her Articles of Clerkship in 2004, Tasneem joined NOSA as a legal consultant and was involved in safety, health and environmental legal compliance audits, legal registers and training.

    As Professional Assistant she then joined Cameron Cross Attorneys. Her portfolio included various issues pertaining to environmental, health and safety law, including auditing, opinion writing and litigation for clients predominantly in the industrial and mining sectors.

    Expertise:

    Tasneem joined Implex in 2006; her responsibilities include legal compliance consulting, training and auditing. Tasneem also heads the legal register department and associated services. She is a member of the Environmental Law Association of South Africa, and is an accredited assessor.
  • Bridget Hughes - Consulting Manager

    Qualifications:

    Masters Environmental Management, HDE.

    Bridget is currently completing an Advanced Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety through Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia.

    Background:

    Bridget has extensive experience over 14 years in environmental research, environmental auditing and safety, health and environmental (SH&E) consulting. Her work has taken her throughout South and southern Africa, Australia and South America. Specifically, Bridget has been a project manager in the successful implementation of a range of management systems both nationally and internationally. Bridget is also a member of the Environmental Law Association of South Africa.

    Expertise:

    Bridget’s core expertise lies in the management of, and participation in, SH&E system development and implementation in accordance with internationally recognised management system standards as well as the planning, development and implementation of integrated management systems. In addition she has specific skills in the development and facilitation of customised SH&E and risk management training and awareness programmes.

    Bridget joined Implex in 2008. Her responsibilities include legal compliance and management system consulting, training, auditing, and management system development and implementation, nationally as well as internationally.
  • Lebo Sedupane - Credit Controller & Office Administrator

    Qualifications:

    Diploma in Business Management and Administration, and currently enrolled in a National Diploma in Technical Financial Accounting which she is set to complete in 2014.

    Background:

    Lebo previously worked at Vericred Bureau and Vodacom Service Park, before she joined the Implex team.

    Expertise:

    Lebo joined Implex in October 2009 where she is responsible for office administration; credit control and debt collection; switchboard and reception and management assistance.
  • Marlize de Jager - Legal Consultant

    Qualifications:

    B.Proc

    Background:

    Marlize obtained her B.Proc degree (cum laude) from the University of Pretoria, in 1997. She completed her articles of clerkship at Lombard, Muller & Partners, in Pretoria. Marlize was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer of the Supreme Court in 2000 and as a notary in 2004. She worked as a conveyancer at Savage Jooste & Adams Attorneys, thereafter at Coetzer de Beer Attorneys, and at Tim du Toit Attorneys before she joined Implex in 2009. Marlize is an accredited Assessor NQF Level 5 and Moderator NQF Level 6.

    Expertise:

    At Implex her responsibilities include managing the Legal Register, maintaining the legislative data base, compiling and circulating newsletters and writing legal opinions.


  • Bernadine Pienaar - Paralegal

    Qualifications:

    Her qualifications include Assessor NQF Level 5; Moderator NQF Level 6; Design & development outcomes based learning material training programme and assessment design training NQF Level 6.

    Background:

    Bernadine’s work experience includes two years as a training administrator at NOSA before she joined Implex in 2005. Bernadine’s responsibilities include implementing a training quality management system and programme. She is also responsible for programme design and material development, in coordination with our subject matter specialists, and for subsequent alignment and submission for accreditation.

    Expertise:

    Bernadine was also responsible for assisting clients with development of Workplace Skills Plans and Workplace Skills Implementation Plans. Bernadine has successfully completed a diploma course in paralegal studies at the University of Cape Town, and works with the legal administrator on the legal register.
  • Amelia Steyn - Training Coordinator

    Qualifications:

    Amelia is scheduled to complete the NQF Support Link Programme; the respective modules in this programme are on NQF Levels 5, 6 & 7.

    Background:

    Amelia has extensive experience in sales and marketing. During this time she worked at NOSA as Business Development Officer in the Marketing Department where her responsibilities included the marketing, development and selling of the Safety Management publication, in addition she was involved in planning, marketing and coordinating for NOSHCON, an annual conference hosted by NOSA. Amelia then joined Solidarity’s media department where she worked as Advertising Manager for marketing, development and sales for the Solidarity magazine. She was also responsible for all the planning, sponsorships and exhibitors for the Solidarity Annual Congress.

    Expertise:

    At Implex she is responsible for training sales and marketing, coordinating training courses and venues, maintaining the training register, client liaison and the issuance of certificates.


  • Barney Vermeulen - Technical Specialist

    Qualifications:

    Artisan, Labour Hiring & Construction, Accredited Assessor

    Background:

    Barney started his career in the SA Air Force, and after Qualifying as an Artisan started to work in Namibia. Thereafter he worked on several high profile projects in Pretoria, Durban and the then Bophuthatswana which expanded his experience in the field. He then started in business in Barberton specialising in Labour Hiring and Construction. Subsequently Barney joined the mines in the Engineering Department where he worked both Underground and on Surface. Barney obtained a vast amount of experience and attended numerous courses such as High Voltage, VSD etc. He is an accredited Assessor, was involved in the writing and implementing of Baseline Risk assessment, Code of Practice’s, Standard Operating Procedures etc. As General Engineering Supervisor he was involved in the Implementing, Training and Upholding of Safety and Health rules and Regulations. In his nearly 30 years with the mines he was part of a team that achieved a million fatality free shifts four times. Barney joined Implex in November 2011.

  • Brian Mphahlele - IT Specialist

    Qualifications:

    Brian is currently completing his BSc Information Systems at the University of South Africa and is set to complete at end of 2014.

    Background:

    Brian joined Implex in May 2013 where he manages all Information Technology requirements for Implex.

    Expertise:

    Includes installation of and training on legal registers, legal register first level support, hosting solutions for client legal registers, new product development, and managing the Implex internal computer and network requirements.
  • Dane Gloy - Legal Consultant

    Qualifications:

    LLB

    Background:

    Dané Gloy obtained her LLB degree from the University of Pretoria in 2009. She completed her articles of clerkship at Jaap Venter Attorneys in Witbank. After completion of her articles of clerkship, she worked as Legal Advisor at SEESA Ltd where her duties included consulting with clients, advising clients on the various compliance requirements of the BEE Act and Employment Equity Act, compiling verification packs and calculating preliminary scorecards for BEE audits. Dané was admitted as an Attorney in October 2013 and is currently enrolled at North West University for a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management, and is a member of the Environmental Law Association.

    Dané joined Implex in July 2012 as a legal consultant where she is responsible for legal consulting, legal registers and legal compliance audits and corporate compliance audits.
  • Leilani Smit - Legal Consultant

    Qualifications:

    LLB

    Background:

    Leilani Smit obtained her LLB degree from the University of Pretoria in 2007. After completing her articles, she practiced as Attorney, as head of the Conveyancing Department at a law firm in Pretoria. She has been the Quality Assurance Manager at Aircraft Maintenance Organisations on Wonderboom Airport since 2009. Duties of which include, ensuring legal compliance with the Civil Aviation Regulations and Technical Standards, conducting audits and implementation of procedure to ensure compliance.

    Expertise:

    Leilani joined Implex in June 2012 as a legal consultant where she is responsible for legal consulting, legal registers and legal compliance audits. Leilani is currently enrolled at North West University for a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management, and is a member of the Environmental Law Association.
  • Lobry Jansen van Rensburg - Senior Legal Consultant

    Qualifications:

    BLC, LLB

    Background:

    Lobry obtained his BLC and LLB degrees from the University of Pretoria. He was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 1994 and as a conveyancer in 1997. His work experience includes being the manager of the Legal Department for a large micro loans company (4 years), being a professional associate at Versveld Nkosi Inc. and Grutter and Lombard Attorneys, being a director of Le Grange & van Rensburg Inc. and director of Roets & van Rensburg Inc. (11 years).

    Expertise:

    His field of experience is wide but he mainly concentrated on labour litigation (with an emphasis on disability law) and commercial law. He served a wide corporate clientele basis with advice on and representation in labour and commercial matters.

    Lobry initially joined Implex as an external legal expert on a part time basis in August 2011 and full-time in February 2012, where his responsibilities include legal compliance consulting, training, auditing, system implementation and development. He recently successfully completed the course “Implementing an Environmental Management System” at NQF level 6 presented by the North West University.
  • Susan Mooiman - Legal Consultant

    Qualifications:

    BCOM Law

    Background:

    Susan Mooiman obtained her B.Comm specializing in Law from the University of Pretoria in 2005. After completing her studies she worked as a paralegal clerk at Rudolf Kuhn Attorneys. She worked as Industrial Relations Consultant with the Labournet from 2006 until 2010 where her duties included chairing disciplinary hearings; drafting policies, disciplinary codes, contracts– fixed term, permanent and intermittent; charges for disciplinary hearings, letters, conducting retrenchments as per the Labour Relations Act Section 189 and 189A; representing and assisting clients in conciliation and arbitration at the CCMA or bargaining councils and training for various levels of management with specific focus on labour relate legislation in South Africa.

    Expertise:

    Susan joined Implex in July 2010 as a legal consultant where she is responsible for legal consulting, legal registers, legal compliance audits and legal compliance and health and safety training. Susan is also responsible for managing and supporting the RedX OHSA self-assessor web-based application.
